In Sweet Dreams, you step into the shoes of Billy Bubble—a young dreamer navigating a whimsical dreamland. Tasked with ascending a towering structure using his trusty snot bubble, Billy embarks on a journey filled with quirky challenges and imaginative gameplay.
Developed as a submission for Global Game Jam 2025 under the theme "Bubbles," the game is a collaborative effort from a dedicated team consisting of two programmers, an artist, and a level designer. I was responsible for crafting the enemy AI, which features rooted tree-like adversaries that shoot teeth at Billy. These teeth, designed to fracture into tiny pieces upon impact, add a playful nod to Billy's backstory—perhaps he lost his tooth in his sleep, leaving him hopeful for a visit from the tooth fairy. Additionally, I implemented a dynamic mesh fracture effect and prototyped an innovative camera system. This camera remains fixed on the tower's center, with WASD controls calibrated accordingly, ensuring smooth gameplay despite the unique perspective. I also developed the bubble gun—a signature weapon that traps enemies in bubbles and lifts them into the air, complete with a soft lock-on feature to assist with aiming in the tower’s focused environment.
